Sedgefield SSP provides a variety of coaches to give support in curriculum time and provide after school clubs. These coaches will also provide links to community settings where the children can further their involvement in sport.
Any coaching support provided in curriculum time is viewed as CPD and it is vital that schools maximise this opportunity by having at least one member of staff present at all times. This will also support the coach in behaviour management so that they can concentrate on skill development
Any coaches providing after school clubs will also need supporting. It is the schools responsibility to promote the club to the appropriate target group, get the children changed and introduced to the session, dismiss the group and ensure all children get home safely. In addition the school should help the coach with behaviour management, ensure they understand school health and safety policy including accident procedures and are aware of child protection policies.
